- Location Data: GPS coordinates when you use live tracking features during pickup journeys. Location is only collected while the journey is active.
- Address Information: Home address coordinates for pickup time assignment and carpool matching.
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, and app version for troubleshooting and compatibility.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Manage school pickup assignments and time scheduling
- Provide real-time location tracking during active pickup journeys
- Verify identity through QR code scanning at pickup points
- Match nearby families for carpooling features
- Send notifications about pickup times and journey status
- Maintain security and prevent unauthorized access
3. Location Data
Location tracking is only active when you explicitly start a pickup journey by tapping "Start Journey" in the app. Your location is shared with:
- The school's admin dashboard (for pickup coordination)
- Your child's student app (so they can see your approach)
- Carpool families on the day of a shared pickup
Location tracking stops immediately when you tap "Pickup Complete" or the journey ends. We do not track your location outside of active pickup journeys.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Information is shared only with:
- Your child's school (pickup assignments, verification data)
- Authorized pickup persons you have designated
- Carpool families you have accepted arrangements with
- Service providers necessary for app functionality (e.g., mapping services)

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission, secure token-based authentication, and regular security audits. All QR codes are uniquely generated and tied to specific pickup assignments.
6. Data Retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. Pickup journey history is retained for the school year. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting your school administrator.
7. Children's Privacy
Smart Pickup is designed for use by parents, school staff, and authorized adults. Student accounts are created by school administrators and contain only the information necessary for pickup identification. We comply with applicable children's privacy regulations.
